A pickleball ball machine is the most expensive piece of gear we cover on this site, and most people buying one have never touched one. That's a bad combination. You're comparing spec sheets full of numbers (ball capacity, mph, hours of battery) without knowing which ones change how a practice session feels. Some of them ... Read more
The indoor vs outdoor pickleball ball question confuses more new players than it should, since the two look almost identical: same size, same color, same general shape. Play a game with the wrong one on the wrong surface and the difference shows up immediately, in how the ball flies, how it bounces, and how long ... Read more
A portable pickleball net looks like the simplest thing to buy in the sport. It's a frame, some mesh, and a base. Then you set one up in a driveway for the first time and discover that "portable" covers everything from a net that holds regulation height through a windy afternoon to one that sags ... Read more
Most players buy a paddle first and figure out how to carry it later. That usually means a spare gym bag or a repurposed backpack, and it works fine right up until a paddle face gets scuffed against a water bottle or a wet towel soaks into the only pocket holding your spare grip tape. ... Read more
Finding the best pickleball shoes matters more than most new players realize. They spend weeks agonizing over which paddle to buy and grab whatever sneakers are already in the closet for their first few sessions. That's backward. A paddle changes how the ball leaves your hand. Picking between a carbon fiber vs. fiberglass pickleball paddle face comes down to one moment: contact. Two paddles can look almost the same on a shelf and hit like completely different pieces of equipment. Same shape, same weight class, same price bracket sometimes, and one sends the ball off the face fast while the other ... Read more
Most players do not decide to upgrade their pickleball paddle. They notice, one rec night at a time, that the paddle that felt perfect three months ago is now the reason a dink sits up instead of dying at the net, or the reason a ball off the frame sails long instead of staying in ... Read more
Pick up two paddles that look almost identical, one EPP and one MPP, and the difference hits you in the first swing. Same shape, same grip, same price range even, and they play like different sports. That gap comes down to two letters most shoppers skip over when reading a pickleball paddle core spec sheet. ... Read more
Half an ounce doesn't sound like much until you are thirty minutes into a rec night and your forearm tells you otherwise. Pickleball paddle weight and grip size are the two specs beginners skip past fastest, mostly because neither one shows up in a flashy product photo. They are also the two specs most likely ... Stand in front of a wall of pickleball paddles at any sporting goods store, and they all start to look the same. Different colors, different price tags, a lot of marketing words like "power core" and "spin technology." None of that tells you what you need to know, which is whether the paddle in your ...
