PaddleBrief publishes plain-language guides to pickleball paddles and gear. The goal is simple: help new and developing players understand what the specs on a paddle change, so they can buy with confidence and skip the marketing.
What we cover
The site is organized into four hubs. Beginner Paddle Guides cover choosing, holding, and caring for a first paddle. Paddle Comparisons break down head-to-head choices like core materials, face materials, thickness, and shape. Paddle Buying Guides cover the specs that matter when you shop. Gear & Accessories covers everything else, from shoes and bags to nets, rebounders, and court tape.
How we research
Our guides are built from primary sources wherever possible: USA Pickleball's official rulebook and equipment standards, manufacturer specifications, and live product listings checked at the time of writing. When we name specific products, we explain how they were chosen and cite the specs we relied on.
We do not claim hands-on testing unless an article says so directly. When a guide is based on research rather than our own time on court, it says that up front, so you know exactly what the recommendation rests on.

Who writes PaddleBrief
Articles are written and edited under the byline Casey Doyle. Every guide goes through a fact check against its sources before it is published, and guides are updated when rules, products, or listings change.
